The Coalition for a Strong Democratic Union

The Coalition for a Strong Democratic Union, CSDU,  is an independent organization fighting the incompetence and ineffectiveness of the current Chicago Teachers Union leadership. Our goal is to refocus the union’s direction to that of protecting its membership and the schools we serve.

Platform

CSDU is devoted to addressing critical issues currently facing the Chicago Teachers Union:

• Establish true transparency to Members on issues of budget and spending
• Restore an adequate reserve fund
• End the erosion of democratic rights of our Members
• Strengthen and adhere to the CTU Constitution
• Fully represent the Membership in the enforcement of the contract and protecting their jobs
• Provide strong representation to members in grievable situations
• Protect pensions and benefits
• Stop school closings
