VP Dallas Locked Out Again

September 26, 2008

Despite pending court sanctions against CTU law firms of Poltrock & Poltrock and Whitfield & McCann, president Marilyn Stewart once again locked out elected Vice President Ted Dallas.  This followed an expected rubber stamp decision by twenty-two CTU functional vice presidents at an appeal hearing on Tuesday evening.

At a court hearing a few short weeks ago, Judge Dorothy Kinnaird told the CTU attorneys that she would be issuing sanctions against them for lying in a court of law.  The lawyers had assured the judge that Dallas would maintain his current membership and elected position until his union appeal process was exhausted.  A status hearing on the issue is scheduled for November 6th in Kinnaird’s court.

Dallas still has the ability to appeal to the AFT for a hearing.  It is doubtful as to whether or not the vice president would get an impartial hearing at that level since Stewart is a member of the AFT Executive Committee and Poltrock is an attorney for the AFT.

Prior to this action the CTU Executive Board voted to oust Dallas from CTU membership, after which CTU Trustees removed him from his elected position. There is no provision in the CTU Constitution that allows such an action by CTU trustees.
